Castle's Shadow incorporates imagery from childhood dreams. A Spotted owl, abalone shells, and the Yurok traditional structure in the forest, although rare, are things you might find and treasure if you visit California's north coast. To respectfully visit such a place, I recommend searching for the Sumeg Village, within Patrick's Point State Park - one of my favorite places.
